Instagram has rolled out a new feature called security checkup for people whose accounts had been hacked. The Security checkup feature will provide an extra level of security to the user account.
The feature is introduced by Instagram because of the reports by hacked users. The feature will update and ask for login information, contact information, share login system, email address, and other personal information to check out that the user who is logging in is the real owner of the account or not.
Instagram Said
“They (malicious accounts) may tell you that your account is at risk of being banned, that you are violating our policies around intellectual property, or that your photos are being shared elsewhere. These messages are often scams and violate our policies. Instagram will never send you a DM”.
The company also said that all the official and authentic communication will be made through the “Emails from Instagram” tab in settings and not by DMs.
It is also mentioned that the user not be engaged or reply to the account that is pretending to be an Instagram official.
Instagram also recommended users enable two-factor authentication to get additional security.
